TEACHERS’ ORIENTATION PROGRAMME-2018-19
The new academic session 2018-19 began with the orientation programme, for the teaching staff of SJCHSS Chittaranjan (both primary and high school teachers) on 3rd April 2018 in the auditorium of the primary building. The programme was conducted by Fr. Benny Sebastian who had come all the way from Arunachal Pradesh. The orientation programme aimed at equipping the teachers with the idea of the newer trends in the teaching methodology.
The main objectives of the orientation programme were: -
- To develop an understanding among the teachers on emerging trends in teaching – learning process.
- To discuss how classroom activities should be conducted to promote a healthy learning atmosphere through group work, assignments, projects etc.
- How to create S.M.A.R.T goals for achieving desired results in the teaching learning process.
- To build up a harmonious relationship among the students, between teacher and student and lastly among the teachers themselves.
- To suggest ways for achieving and meeting students expectations
The orientation strategy adopted by father Benny was –participatory discussion, group activities followed by ppt presentation. The teachers were given a set of questionnaires to know their level of understanding the importance of teaching which was followed by a very interactive group discussion based on real life case studies.
To conclude
The orientation programme was useful not only to the existing teachers but also for the new joinees.The teachers gratefully acknowledged Fr. Sebastian’s contribution for the successful completion of the orientation programme which was beautifully summed up in the words of thanks spelt out for the resource person.
